TRI's technology, management experience and proven track record combine to form a unique company that delivers results to partners and clients worldwide, expertly harnessing the power and promise of a wide range of bio-based energy and chemical recovery solutions.
ThermoChem Recovery International, Inc. (“TRI”), a biomass-to-energy company headquartered in Baltimore, MD, USA, was formed in 1996 to commercialize a number of technologies developed by its founder.
Our proprietary pulse-enhanced steam reforming gasification system was developed with more than $30 million of R&D investment from the U.S. Department of Energy, the California Energy Commission, and the pulp and paper industry. This proprietary gasification process converts cellulosic feedstocks (including forest residuals, agricultural waste and energy crops) into a synthesis gas (“syngas”) which can be used to displace fossil fuel, and can be converted into biofuels and biochemicals.
Additionally, TRI's technology is uniquely capable of recovering energy and chemicals from spent pulping liquors, a byproduct of the paper-making process. TRI licenses its proprietary gasification technology, and provides specialized equipment and engineering services to pulp and paper companies seeking to integrate TRI's process into their mill operations.
Our Mission
Provide advanced steam reforming-based syngas generation systems to industry and provide enabling technology, integration solutions and expertise to build and operate biorefineries. Provide a complete range of technology solutions that enable:
- Displacement of fossil fuels
- Conversion of a wide range of biomass to energy
- Efficient steam and power generation
- Production of biofuels and biochemicals
- Advanced pulping strategies
Our Vision
Build on our technologies to deliver breakthrough results for clients and partners in the development, integration and supply of biomass-to-energy, biochemicals and biofuels technologies.
